In June 2011, Gerding Edlen hosted a panel discussion with some of the region's most sustainable urban thinkers, moderated by Metropolis Editor-in-Chief Susan Szenasy. The discussion explored several of Portland's advances in taking sustainability to the next level. "Portland has started the conversation," said Szenasy. "There's an infrastructure of ideas here that doesn't exist anywhere else."
