Boston Welcomes Gerding Edlen
Jul 27, 2012
Gerding Edlen broke ground on it's first project in Boston at 319 A Street Rear. The 202-unit apartment building will be the first high rise project in Boston's historic Fort Point neighborhood, bridging the neighborhood's past with a recent influx of modern office and residential buildings nearby. The towers will include 22 affordable units and, at nearby 63 Melcher Street, 27 "innovation housing" units aimed at young professionals.
The Boston Herald reports, “Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino said housing is a ‘crucial part of the equation’ in the transformation of what he dubbed the Innovation District.”
“‘Housing is so important to economic development because it helps turn a neighborhood into a vibrant, 24-hour mixed-use community,’ he said.”
