Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino joined Boston Redevelopment Director Peter Meade, developers Gerding Edlen, Restaurateur Barbara Lynch and Senator Jack Hart at a groundbreaking ceremony at 319 A Street Rear in Fort Point.

Gerding Edlen's first Boston development will include 202 residential units. A nearby renovation at 63 Melcher will add 38 units of additional housing, including 27 innovation units and 5 affordable live/work artist spaces.

“From the very start of our plan for the waterfront and Fort Point Channel, we knew housing would be a crucial part of the equation,” says Mayor Menino. “There are a lot of exciting things happening down here – from the arts to the restaurants and more – and people want to be part of it. They want to live down here and continue the momentum, Boston Wharf Tower will give residents the opportunity they have been waiting for.”
