Brewery Blocks Earns Multiple LEED Ratings

Several buildings in the Brewery Blocks have achieved LEED certification, with a targeted LEED Platinum project expected to join

South-facing solar panels on the façade of the M Financial Building generate an estimated 4.5 percent of the building’s electrical load.

With a LEED Platinum award expected to join the project’s one Silver and two Gold ratings, Gerding Edlen’s Brewery Blocks project is set to become one of the greenest urban redevelopments in the country reports Randy Gragg at The Oregonian.

"‘We started out modestly,’ says Dennis Wilde, Gerding/Edlen's senior project manager. ‘But as we gained momentum, we were able to push the envelope as far as we could while still remaining cost-neutral.’" Sustainability features include a water chiller plant, operable office windows, south-facing solar panels and sustainable building materials, among others.
