Portland Center Stage Sets Sights on Armory

Portland Center Stage is confident they can raise the funds to make the historic Portland Armory its new home

The historic armory in Northwest Portland is slated to become a new performing arts center.

Nearing its September 30 deadline, Portland Center Stage is confident it will reach the $2 million goal to secure the Armory as its future home, writes Aimee Curl, Daily Journal of Commerce. The historic building is part of Gerding Edlen’s Brewery Blocks, a multi-building redevelopment in the Pearl District.

“The Portland Development Commission voted in July to try to purchase the historic Armory building and convert the facility into a new performance venue for Portland Center Stage.”

“The $4.2 million needed to buy the Armory will be borrowed from the city against future urban renewal dollars in that area. The loan will be made through a newly formed entity called the Portland Historic Rehabilitation Fund.”
