Co-developers Gerding Edlen and Williams & Dame Development hired ZIBA Design to devise a marketing strategy for their South Waterfront project, a 38-acre, mixed-use, riverfront neighborhood in Portland, Oregon. Consumer research led to the creation of storytelling brochures and the Discovery Center, a museum-like space designed to give buyers a sense of what life would be like in the neighborhood upon its completion. The Meriwether, the first complex in the development, sold out in six months. Eighy-four percent of the homes in the John Ross, the second building, sold in only six days.

Figueroa South, comprised of two 34-story luxury condo towers, is the newest development in the transformation of downtown L.A.’s South Park district by the South Group, a partnership between Gerding Edlen Development and Williams & Dame Development. The mixed-use Brewery Blocks neighborhood, built on the site of a former brewery in Portland’s post-industrial Pearl District, successfully mixes old and new with a variety of retailers, offices, restaurants, urban homes and restored historical elements, including the original brewery smokestack.

Several buildings in the Brewery Blocks, a five-block, mixed-use neighborhood in Portland, Oregon, developed by Gerding Edlen, have achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) ratings. Sustainability features include a water chiller plant, operable office windows, south-facing solar panels and sustainable building materials, among others.

Gerding Edlen is developing a six-story building that will become the new headquarters for The Columbian newspaper in downtown Vancouver, Washington. The project includes ground-level retail space, leasable office space and three floors for news and business operations.

The Civic, a 15-story building developed by Gerding Edlen, is one of several new projects reshaping the skyline of downtown Portland. The Civic is comprised of 261 urban homes aimed at first-time home buyers and 140 affordable, Housing Authority of Portland apartments for rent.

Gerding Edlen Development is transforming the historic Portland Armory into a performing arts center that will be home to Portland Center Stage. The Bob and Diana Gerding Theater will also be the first historically designated building and first theater venue in the nation to achieve platinum LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) status.
