Flexible Design on a Budget for an Expanding University
Eastern Oregon University was in need of new student housing to accommodate more than 250 students under an aggressive budget and timeline. Working closely with EOU and the project team, the project was completed in 12 months with a $10.2-million budget. The design was developed during a series of design meetings with students and residence life personnel. The project met the school's needs, obtained the State Energy Efficiency Design (SEED) rating and helped build community in Eastern Oregon.
The project includes two buildings (two stories each), including 85,000 square feet of student housing in a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom suites, as well as light-filled activity/meeting space, a community kitchen and study rooms. It consists of 56 suites with the ability to house 270 students.
