THE ARDEA

Artful, smart living that promotes simplicity

The fourth residential development in the 38-acre South Waterfront Central District, The Ardea, is one of the more distinct buildings in South Waterfront. Standing the same height as the John Ross, it has rounded angles and a curved facade that create a sleek, dynamic look to the skyline. From above, the building is actually shaped like an eye with 90-degree points at each end – an eye that’s contained artfully within the square shape of the city street grid. The project is an example of our continuing vision to move Portland away from boxy, slab construction and more toward creative and stylish design. The Ardea is set one block back from the river and offers residents outstanding views and a quick connection to the river. The 30-story building contains 290 for-rent units in the tower and 33 townhomes in the neighboring sidecar. Our focus was in creating an environment that appealed to those who crave city life and saw themselves as young at heart, who are looking for a better way to live. As another mixed-use development, street level retail will provide opportunities for residents and visitors alike to mingle and gather. The Ardea was developed by Williams & Dame Development and Gerding Edlen Development Company, LLC. The Ardea is on track to receive a LEED Gold Certification from the USGBC.
